Patriots Equal Best Winning Streak From Tom Brady Era with Triumph Against Jets
Rookie Henderson has tallied five touchdowns this season
The New England Patriots matched their top unbeaten stretch from the Tom Brady era as they beat division opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie Henderson was the standout with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in 2019
QB Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The win bolsters the Patriots lead at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York bottom after slipping to a 2-8 mark
The Jets had scored first at their home field with quarterback Fields rushing for a short rushing score to conclude the Jets' initial series
But the New England fought back in the second quarter as Henderson rushed for two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back grabbed a reception from Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third period to push the score to 21-7
"That was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback said of Henderson. "He wants to be outstanding."
Justin Fields threw to John Metchie late in the third period to reduce the lead for the visitors but Andy Borregales booted a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the home side wrapped up the win
