Numerous Participate in Pro-Palestinian Rallies as Coordinators Pledge to Keep Protesting

Tens of thousands gathered across Australia at rallies supporting Palestine, with organisers vowing to continue protesting after a peace arrangement negotiated by the American leader in Gaza showed early signs of stability.

Sydney Demonstration Draws Large Crowd

In Australia's largest city, the pro-Palestine organization claimed a crowd of 30,000 had marched from the public gardens to Belmore Park in the central business district after a intended demonstration to the famous building was restricted by the New South Wales court of appeal last week.

NSW police approximated a crowd of 8,000 attended the Sydney protest, with a official stating there had been "no significant incidents".

Nationwide Demonstrations Mark Anniversary

Rallies were also held in Victoria's capital, Brisbane and west coast metropolis on Sunday to commemorate 24 months of conflict after armed incidents on 7 October 2023 caused significant casualties in Israel.

"Regarding our cause, we'll absolutely continue to advocate for liberation... for autonomy in the territory, for support to reach and for residents to restore their communities," commented one organiser.

Mixed Reactions to Truce Arrangement

Various participants voiced optimism that the ceasefire would lead to lasting peace. Some were doubtful of Trump's involvement and encouraged participants to maintain pressure on the national authorities to apply measures and halt weapons commerce.

A participant, a Australian of Palestinian descent living in Sydney, expressed he desired the arrangement could permit him to assist his senior relative, who is currently in the region without medical attention, to his current home, and to discover and lay to rest his brother, sister-in-law and their four children, who have been missing since 2023.

Jewish Community Conducts Service

Separately, numerous people attended a Jewish community commemoration on that night in eastern Sydney to commemorate the two-year mark of 7 October. A participant, the family member of someone affected, an Australian citizen who was deceased in the incident, was scheduled to speak.

There were wishes for quick release of the captives still held in the region and those killed on 7 October. The Israeli ambassador, Amir Maimon, recognized the determination of those affected. The audience expressed disapproval when he referenced the Australian prime minister and the international relations official.

Boat Activists Share Experiences

Sydney's pro-Palestine rally earlier included testimonies including several locals released from Israeli detention after the interception of the Sumud flotilla in recent weeks.

Surya McEwen, his damaged arm after it was said to be harmed in an detention facility, shared that insufficient information was available about the truce arrangement. Global humanitarian groups, including Unrwa and Unicef, were preparing to enter Gaza.

"Given the ongoing conditions where there's a brutal and illegal blockade on Gaza," commented the participant, maritime demonstrators would continue to try to deliver aid by sea.

Abubakir Rafiq, who came back to the city on recently, gave an emotional speech describing his detention with 83 other men in an incarceration center.

Official Comments

The political representative Jenny Leong addressed participants: "We must not allow a reality where the former president decides the outcome for Palestinian communities to be the type of reality we accept."

A different coordinator who made the first proposal to demonstrate at the famous location claimed that the protesters could have safely headed to the renowned coastal site. The senior police representative had earlier informed the court of appeal that the arrangement appeared dangerous.

The activist stated at the event: "On each occasion the police attempt to oppose our demonstrations or court proceedings, it wakes up a lot of people... to the need to mobilise and oppose such actions."
